Tôi biết đến môn toán tư duy này là khi xem những chương trình thách thức toán học của Trung Quốc và Nhật Bản. Từ các bạn nhỏ đến người trưởng thành, từ các độ tuổi khác nhau đều có thể đối đầu với nhau khi vượt qua các cấp độ hay cuộc thi tài để gặp nhau.
Khi biết đến “trường phái” này, bản thân tôi cũng bị cuốn theo và cũng lục lọi tìm hiểu sâu về nó. Nhưng khi tìm hiểu sâu về nó, tôi nhận ra “trường phái” này có phải chỉ là một game như bao loại game khác chỉ cần kỹ năng và tuân thủ rule quy tắc để chơi nó? Đương nhiên, toán Tư duy nó sẽ khác ở phần đó là yêu cầu người đó phải nhanh, nhạy và có lối tư duy cực tốt. Bởi khi xem chương trình này, tui thấy về tốc độ của mỗi người chơi phải cực kỳ nhạy và nhanh.
Nói cách khác, người chơi hệ toán này phải hiểu luật, nhanh và nhạy để có thể ưu Việt.

Theo một bài báo* chia sẻ về hiện tượng nhiều phụ huynh đã bắt đầu đầu tư cho con em học hệ toán tư duy từ khi ở độ tuổi mẫu giáo. Hiện tượng này đã tạo nên một lan tranh luận về vấn đề này.
Câu hỏi được đặt ra: “Ghi một loạt các con tính phức tạp rồi để các bạn nhỏ tính nhấm để làm gì?”. Theo quan điểm của một Tiến sĩ chuyên ngành phương pháp dạy toán:
” Theo quan điểm của tôi đấy là phản giáo dục. Vì khi trẻ 4 – 5 tuổi, ta chỉ nên dạy nhận dạng rất đơn giản. Các cháu chỉ cần nhận biết được các hình: tròn, vuông, tam giác; hay dài – ngắn, tròn – méo, ít hơn, nhiều hơn… là được rồi. Năng lực nhận thức của các cháu chưa đòi hỏi phải làm toán siêu tốc.
Ngay từ giờ, khi trẻ em vào lớp 1, chương trình của Bộ GD&ĐT đã yêu cầu không được dạy trước cho các cháu cái gì. Từ việc “luyện thi” từ tuổi mẫu giáo trước khi vào lớp 1 là không nên. Hiện tượng này cũng đã bị dư luận cũng như các nhà giáo dục phản đối rất nhiều. Việc đưa phép tính vào dạy trẻ từ 4 – 5 tuổi, lại là “siêu tốc”, tôi cho rằng hoàn toàn phản giáo dục.
Dạy “làm toán siêu tốc” không những không tác động tốt mà còn tác động xấu tới trẻ em. Việc tác động vào bộ não của trẻ không đúng lúc như vậy, sẽ gây hậu quả sau này, thậm chí là thương tổn về trí tuệ.
Vậy vai trò của tính nhẩm thực chất là gì?
Bản thân tính nhẩm không quá quan trọng. Người ta chỉ thực hiện phép tính khi đã nghĩ ra cách giải bài toán rồi. Tư duy để nghĩ ra cách giải bài toán mới là điều cần thiết. Hơn thế, trong thời buổi hiện nay, người ta dùng máy tính nhiều nên tính nhẩm “siêu” không giải quyết được nhiều vấn đề. Ghi một loạt các con tính phức tạp rồi để các cháu nhẩm để làm gì?
