Nhiều người thường nói rằng “biết đủ là hạnh phúc”, ý nghĩa tích cực là khuyên con người đừng quá tham lam, mãi chạy theo những sở thích dục vọng để mãi chìm đắm trong tham sân si và không tìm được hạnh phúc. Tuy nhiên ở một mặt khác, nhiều người lại dùng đây theo kiểu “tâm lý AQ”, giải thích và tự an ủi cho thất bại của mình, thậm chí ép mình đi thụt lùi khi không có chí cầu tiến, không có tham vọng.
Một con mèo 1 ngày có thể hạnh phúc với 1 con cá. Tuy nhiên một con hổ thì không, với nó một con cá chả đủ để làm gì. Và không thể ép con hổ rằng, tại sao mày không biết đủ là đủ? Sao không như con mèo kia?
Bản thân tôi cũng từng thử cho việc này, ngày còn trẻ, tôi cũng thấy mình mãi chạy theo những sở thích của mình để chuốc thêm phiền muộn, tôi cũng học hỏi những người xung quanh, cố để mình giống họ để có thể nhẹ nhàng và hạnh phúc hơn. Đơn cử một ví dụ, tôi rất đam mê xe mô tô phân khối lớn, mỗi chiếc xe bằng cả gia tài. Khi ngồi trên chiếc xe, rồ máy, tôi cảm thấy hạnh phúc, thấy những cố gắng của mình là xứng đáng. Đã có lần tôi cố thử đi 1 chiếc Wave, hay sau đó là Sh, cảm giác rất vô nghĩa. Nó giống như nếu bạn được đi du lịch với 1 người bạn yêu, thì hạnh phúc tràn trề, còn nếu yêu đơn phương 1 người và ép phải đi với 1 người mình không thích, thì chuyến du lịch đó là cực hình, tra tấn.
Mỗi người đều có một định mức của riêng mình, có người là mèo và có người là hổ, mèo không phải là dở hơn hổ hay ngược lại, chỉ là định mức mỗi người mỗi khác. Ông bà chúng ta chỉ cần có mái nhà và ăn no là hạnh phúc, bố mẹ chúng ta thì có thêm công việc, du lịch, và tới chúng ta, cần có thêm công nghệ, phương tiện phục vụ cuộc sống. Vấn đề quan trọng là chúng ta cần xác định rõ định mức thật sự của mình, đừng dùng định mức của người khác và áp lên mình. Con hổ dùng định mức của mèo sẽ không hạnh phúc và ngược lại, con mèo dùng định mức của hổ thì càng khủng khiếp hơn.
