Ta sinh ra trong vòng tay mẹ. Bên cạnh mẹ là cha, là anh chị em, là những người thân mà ta gọi bằng hai chữ giản dị nhưng thiêng liêng “gia đình”. Dù tuổi thơ ta đi qua bằng những ngày êm đềm hay chông chênh khổ đau thì vẫn còn đó một mái nhà để ta gọi về.
Rồi khi trưởng thành, ta bước ra đời. Ta gặp gỡ những người xa lạ. Có người chỉ ngang qua như một làn gió. Có người dừng lại lâu hơn và trở thành bạn bè, tri kỷ. Có người xuất hiện mang theo duyên nợ nào đó để trở thành vợ, thành chồng của ta. Thế là “người dưng hóa gia đình”. Từ xa lạ trở thành người một nhà. Từ chỗ chẳng liên quan gì bỗng trở thành nơi nương tựa, để cùng ta xây dựng một tổ ấm. Ta dần trở thành trụ cột, thành điểm tựa, thành người được thương yêu và cũng biết thương yêu. Gia đình ấy tồn tại, bền vững hay đổ vỡ… đều do chính cách ta giữ gìn.
Trong hạnh phúc, ta biết ơn vì có người dưng trở thành gia đình. Trong những giận hờn, ta vẫn mỉm cười vì ít nhất, ta còn có một nơi để trở về. Nhưng khi không thể giữ nổi, khi yêu thương đã hao mòn, khi cái tôi lớn hơn cái “chúng ta” thì “gia đình hóa người dưng”. Chúng ta lại trở về điểm xuất phát, lạ lẫm và xa xôi.
Nỗi đau của việc “gia đình hóa người dưng” không chỉ nằm ở sự mất mát mà còn ở chỗ người từng thân thuộc nhất lại trở thành xa lạ nhất. Người từng biết rõ từng thói quen, từng nếp nghĩ, nay lại như một cái bóng ngoài đời. Ta có thể dễ dàng bỏ qua một người dưng ngoài xã hội nhưng lại day dứt đến tận cùng khi người ấy từng là máu thịt, từng là điểm tựa.
Cuộc đời là vậy. Người dưng hóa gia đình, gia đình hóa người dưng. Nó dạy ta trân trọng những mối quan hệ mình đang có để không biến thương yêu thành thói quen, để không vô tình đẩy người thân thành xa lạ. Bởi giữ được yêu thương mới thật sự là giữ được một mái nhà.
