Thực tế, ai cũng có lúc phần “con” trỗi dậy mạnh mẽ hơn phần “người”. Trong những khoảnh khắc đó, ta dễ dàng tạo nghiệp. Những lời nói gây tổn thương, hành động thiếu suy xét, lựa chọn vội vàng làm hại đến thể chất, tinh thần, danh dự hay tài chính của người khác… Khi phần “người” trong ta bừng tỉnh, ta lại dằn vặt, day dứt, hối hận vì những gì mình đã gây ra.
Trả nghiệp có khi rất rõ ràng. Làm điều xấu thì sớm muộn cũng gặp điều không may. Một lời nói tổn thương người khác hôm qua, hôm nay lại quay về dưới dạng một vết cắt trong lòng ta khi nghe ai đó vô tình nói lại điều tương tự. Một hành động thiếu trách nhiệm hôm nào nay hóa thành sự mất niềm tin từ những người ta từng thương quý.
Điều khó khăn nhất khi trả nghiệp không phải là chịu đau mà là đối diện với sự thật rằng: Chính mình đã gieo ra nó. Cái đau bên ngoài có thể qua đi nhưng cái day dứt bên trong mới là thử thách thực sự. Những gì mình đã gieo ra, có khi sớm, có khi muộn, có khi trực tiếp, có khi gián tiếp qua người thân, công việc, sức khỏe hay chính tâm hồn mình.
Khi chấp nhận trả nghiệp với thái độ bình thản, không oán trách, không trốn chạy, ta mới thực sự thoát khỏi vòng lặp vô tận của tạo và trả. Khi đó, ta mới biết quý trọng hơn từng khoảnh khắc hiện tại, biết cẩn trọng hơn trong từng hành động, biết yêu thương nhiều hơn khi đối diện với người khác.
Sống ở đời, không ai có thể tránh hoàn toàn việc tạo nghiệp. Nhưng điều quan trọng là ta có nhận ra, có can đảm đối diện và học cách trả nghiệp trong bình thản. Mỗi lần như thế, phần “người” trong ta sẽ lớn thêm một chút, phần “con” dần được thuần hóa.
